Where do we want to go?

We have big plans for the future.

We want to take a closer look at how strata buildings—a fast-growing type of housing on Vancouver Island, and part of the "missing middle" housing solution—are governed. BC is making $2 billion available to developers to create even more housing like this, and we’re eager to dig into it.

On a municipal level, Victoria is exploring a proposal that would have profound implications on land use for generations to come. We can't say much more just yet but it's a tangled, complicated story to approach, and that's what we're here for: to go beyond the headlines and talk about the big picture.

Finally, we want to bring more coverage to the rest of the Island. We've brought the Westshore newsletter to life, and it's been a thrill to see how big of a response that has elicited, and now we want to extend our hyper-local coverage further. You can help us do that.

Pricing

$500

This will pay for an in-depth feature each month, helping us continue to cover stories to the depth Capital Daily is known for.

$1,000

This will help us hire a fact-checker or a lawyer to rigorously comb through an investigation like The man who stole a hotel—which required both.

$2,500

This will pay for a copy editor. From catching the grammatical mistakes that can detract from a hard-won scoop to polishing the language that draws us in, a copy editor is a godsend to any editorial team.
