On Aug. 22 and 23, Four Winds Weekend transforms Tower Plaza into a celebration of Indigenous culture, creativity, and connection. Across two days, the summit comes alive with traditional dance, drumming, storytelling, Indigenous artists and makers, and opportunities to connect with the stories, traditions, and cultures that continue to shape this region.
Visitors can enjoy performances from the Cowichan Tzinquaw Dancers and the Lək̓ʷəŋən Women's Dance Group, while discovering handcrafted works from Indigenous artists and makers. More than a weekend of performances, it's an invitation to connect with the stories, traditions, and creative expressions generously shared by Indigenous artists, dancers, and knowledge keepers.
The setting makes it more memorable. Guests can wander the 600-metre elevated TreeWalk beneath towering Arbutus and Douglas fir, climb the Spiral Tower for sweeping 360-degree views, or step into The Overhang, Canada's first enclosed glass cube experience suspended above the forest canopy.
Four Winds Weekend is part of a much bigger story. Malahat SkyWalk has grown into much more than a scenic viewpoint. It's become a place where nature, wellness, adventure, culture, and community come together, giving guests a reason to stay longer and return often.
"What I love most is that it's always changing," says Jadrian Berkan, Brand & Marketing Manager at Malahat SkyWalk. "The forest changes, the seasons change, and so do the experiences we create around them. That lets us surprise guests every visit. If someone leaves having laughed with their family, discovered a new culture, created something with their own hands, or simply felt immersed in nature for a few hours, then we've done what we set out to do."
Until Aug. 16, visitors can get up close with the incredible birds of prey from Island Raptors, while the SkyWalk Creative Club invites guests of all ages to create, explore, and take home a little inspiration every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday through Sept. 4.
On Aug. 8, Meantwell Books brings its travelling bookstore to the summit for a day of storytelling, literature, and discovering your next great read. Then, on Aug. 15, the powerful rhythms of Uminari Taiko fill the forest as the acclaimed Japanese drumming group returns for another unforgettable performance.
Every Sunday until the end of August, the Cowichan Tzinquaw Dancers bring Tower Plaza to life with three captivating performances beginning at 11am. Their powerful songs and dances offer guests another opportunity to experience the rich cultural traditions of Vancouver Island in an unforgettable setting.
Every visit tells a different story, and one of the best parts of visiting Malahat SkyWalk is that the experience doesn't begin at the entrance. For many guests, that story begins the moment they leave Victoria and wind through the towering forests of Goldstream Provincial Park. From there, the day unfolds however you'd like it to—whether that means lingering at Malahat SkyWalk for the afternoon, exploring the Cowichan Valley's wineries and artisan stops, or simply taking the scenic route home. It becomes the centrepiece of a day spent discovering one of Vancouver Island's most beautiful regions.
Whether you're joining us for Four Winds Weekend or finding your own reason to visit before summer comes to a close, you'll leave with more than incredible views— you'll leave thinking about the next time you come back.
