The calendar may have flipped, but there's still plenty of summer fun to be had in Victoria. August is packed with festivals, outdoor concerts, and cultural celebrations that make the most of our beautiful season.

Highlights this month include the return of Symphony Splash to the Inner Harbour, the vibrant Viva Victoria Latin Fest, and the engaging  Victoria Fringe Festival, wrapping up the month with 12 days of theatrical entertainment.

National Youth Orchestra of Canada | Aug. 1 | 7:30pm

Celebrate 65 years of musical excellence as Canada's premier youth orchestra, led by Music Director Naomi Woo, transforms Christ Church Cathedral with an anniversary performance featuring works by Nicholas Denton Protsack, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich. [$47.50]

Groove Kitchen Beach Boogie | Aug. 1 | 7pm

Get ready to move with this party-hearty crew delivering funk and Latin sounds at Hermann's Jazz Club. [$25]

Mostly Motown | Aug. 1 | 1:30pm-3:30pm

Enjoy classic Motown hits performed by talented local musicians at the Cameron Bandshell as part of the city's summer concert series. This free, family-friendly outdoor concert brings the soulful sounds of Detroit to Victoria's beautiful park setting. [Free]

Wonderment 2025 | Aug. 2-4 | 4pm-2am & 1pm-7pm on Monday

Enjoy free ambient and electronic music performances in various parks with all-ages events during the day, and dance-oriented 19+ happenings with low ticket prices at the Downbeat Event Centre at night. This is the 10th anniversary edition. [Free / $25-$35]

Viva Victoria Latin Fest | Aug. 2-3

Experience the vibrant culture of Latin America at this free family festival showcasing live music, dance, authentic food, and cultural activities representing the rich diversity of 22+ Latin American countries. Centennial Square is the setting. [Free]

Symphony Splash | Aug. 2-3 | 1pm-9pm

Victoria's iconic waterfront concert returns for two days in the Inner Harbour, featuring four major performances by the Victoria Symphony, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and special guests, including Juno-winning Indigenous vocalists. [Free]

Sunday Afternoon Milonga | Aug. 3 | 1pm-4pm

Experience the warmth of Argentine tango with close embrace dancing at The Coda's beautifully renovated venue. [$15]

Latin Dance—Urban Kizomba | Aug. 4 | 5:30pm-7:30pm

Learn the basics of this modern Afro-Latin partner dance rooted in traditional Angolan Kizomba but with a sharper, more dynamic style. Taught by the Victoria Latin Dance Association, no partner or experience is necessary—just come ready to move and connect with the community. [Free]

Inter-Tidal Relations Concert Series | Aug. 6 & 20 | 4pm-6pm

Experience Indigenous and global cultures through music and storytelling in this ongoing concert series that uplifts diverse cultural voices and traditions. Held at scenic Ship Point. [Free]

Free-B Film Festival | Aug. 8-9, 15-16, 22-23 | 8:30pm-10:30pm

Enjoy outdoor cinema under the stars with this series of evening film screenings on Fridays and Saturdays. This free festival brings independent and classic films to Beacon Hill Park’s comfortable Cameron Bandshell, creating a unique community viewing experience perfect for summer nights. [Free]

Versa, Dreamworld Panic & Tal Voda | Aug. 9 | 6:30pm

Canada Dry Victoria Dragon Boat Festival | Aug. 9-10 | 10am-6pm

Celebrate summer at Victoria's signature dragon boat festival in the Inner Harbour, featuring exciting races on Saturday and cultural activities both days. [Free]

Savour Saanich Flavour Trails Festival | Aug. 9-10 | Various times 

A self-guided culinary tour celebrating local farmers, food producers, chefs, and beverage makers throughout Saanich. Visitors can pick up trail maps at festival hubs and explore participating partners offering farm tours, tastings, workshops, and specialty products at their own pace. Madrona Farm & PKOLS Market. Drama Queen with The Thunes & Heron Hereon | Aug. 15 | 9pm

Get swept into an '80s dreamscape with Salt Spring Island's synthpop sensation Drama Queen, joined by rock band The Thunes and progressive psychedelic rockers Heron Hereon at The Coda. [$15]

Mary Poppins the Musical Jr. | Aug. 16 | 6pm 

The Sea Star Musical Theatre Class presents Disney's beloved story of the magical nanny who transforms the troubled Banks family in 1910 England. [$20 adults, $15 youth 16 and under]

Annual Sidney Sidewalk Sale | Aug. 16 | 10am-4pm 

More than 50 Sidney businesses step outside their storefronts to offer deeply discounted summer merchandise in one of the region's biggest seasonal shopping events. [Free]

Victoria Fringe Festival | Aug. 20-31

Dive into 12 days of theatrical madness with the 39th annual Fringe Festival featuring nearly 30 shows across downtown venues. [Ticket price TBA]

Harbour Blues 'n Roots Festival | Aug. 22-24

Get your blues fix with headliners The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer, Shemekia Copeland, and Bywater Call performing at Ship Point. The festival also features numerous free performances around the city showcasing local and touring blues talent. [Ticketed headliners, free shows available]

i-Land Fest Caribbean Carnival | Aug. 29-31

Experience Vancouver Island's Caribbean celebration at Ship Point with steel pan showcases, live DJs, cultural performances, and a grand parade. This free family festival includes a beer garden, costume parade participation, and evening 19+ events at downtown venues. [Free festival, ticketed evening events]
